Senior Consultant
Severin Thaler holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics from ETH Zurich and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Chicago. He has worked in various areas of IT: as a system development engineer in the field of train control technology, in the asset management department of a large bank where he developed software to evaluate structured products, at a university where he supported researchers in the use of a high-performance cloud and as a penetration tester.
He is an experienced penetration tester with a focus on web applications and APIs and is familiar with penetration testing methodologies, tools, various application areas and commonly encountered technologies such as client-side and server-side web frameworks. Severin Thaler also focuses on secure software development. He uses source code analyses and design reviews to identify fundamental vulnerabilities in order to put software on a secure footing at the earliest possible stage of the development process. His skills are rounded off by conceptual activities such as the creation of guidelines and the delivery of training courses.
To be well positioned in the field of IT security, you need a (healthy) dose of paranoia, because trust is good, but control is better.
